![]() ![]() The History
2005 was the first year Moms In Business hosted the Create Your Dreams Awards. It quickly became the leading national awards program honoring the outstanding achievements of working mothers. We're proud to have been the first gala hosted at the beautiful Wynn Resort in Las Vegas, NV and raised money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Southern Nevada in celebration of their 10th Anniversary of the Race for the Cure. The Create Your Dreams Awards and Business grants were created by the progressive vision of Gina Robison-Billups, who is the founder of The National Association For Moms In Business. Gina dreamed of an event that really honored working mothers for all they do. Often mothering is thankless, and being great at your job and involved in the community is expected of women. Gina wanted an event to honor outstanding women and know that we don't take them for granted. Even if only for one night, these women know they are appreciated, and what they have given the world has made a difference.
Renowned sculptor and jewelry designer, Paula Thompson, was commissioned to create Gina's vision of the Create Your Dreams Awards Statue. The award statue, fondly known as "Cyd", is now highly coveted and regarded by many as "the" award to receive. The design perfectly encompasses all that a working mother is. It is continuous, energetic, and graceful denoting character,
balance, strength, and nurturing. Porcelain was the chosen medium
because like a woman, porcelain is delicate and beautiful, yet it is
surprisingly one of the strongest and most durable substances on earth.
This award is the only recognition women receive that recognizes them for all their contributions they feel are important - their family, their business, and their community.
Each year we've hosted awards gala since then, each was amazing in it's unique way and a greater success than the year before. We have supported Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Shade Tree for Homeless and Abused Women and their Families, The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and The International Association of Working Mothers. For our 5th Anniversary of the Create Your Dreams Awards, we decided to let go of the gala and create the Create Your Dreams Film Project.
