Ana Recio Harvey

As the U.S. Small Business Administration's assistant administrator for women's business ownership, Ana Recio Harvey is the director of the SBA's Office of Women's Business Ownership. She oversees the agency's efforts to promote the growth of women-owned businesses through programs that provide business training and counseling, access to credit and capital, and multiple business and networking opportunities. 

Harvey manages a nationwide network of women's business centers that provide training and counseling to hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs in nearly every state and two U.S. territories. Her office also works with representatives in every SBA district office to oversee operations of the women's business centers and to coordinate services for women entrepreneurs. 

After working as a translation consultant from 1991 to 2000, Harvey established Syntaxis, LLC, a highly successful SBA 8(a)-certified multilingual communications company with clients from Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Harvey successfully grew her company from a single English-to-Spanish translation agency into a full-service multilingual communications firm with 75 employees handling communications and translations in 25 languages.

In 2007, Harvey was named president and CEO of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a post she held until President Obama appointed her to lead the Office of Women's Business Ownership.
 
Dave Kerpen

Dave Kerpen is the cofounder and CEO of Likeable Media, an award-winning social media and word-of-mouth marketing firm. Dave and his wife and COO Carrie have transformed theKBuzz (founded in 2006) into Likeable, 1 of Facebook’s Top 65 Preferred Developer Consultants as well as the only 3-time WOMMY Award winner for excellence from the Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA).

Dave has been featured on CNBC’s “On the Money”, ABC World News Tonight, the CBS Early Show, the New York Times, and countless blogs. Within the past year, Dave has spoken at dozens of social media related conferences and webinars for organizations such as WOMMA and the American Marketing Association.

Dave is backed by a team of social media thought leaders who collectively have managed over 250 accounts on Facebook and other social networks, for brands such as Verizon FiOS, 1-800 Flowers.com, Neutrogena, Uno Chicago Grill, The Pampered Chef, and Heineken. Dave’s 1st book, published by McGraw-Hill, is “Likeable Social Media: How to Delight Your Customers, Create an Irresistible Brand, and Be Generally Amazing on Facebook and other social networks.”

Dave is proud of his Likeable business accomplishments but prouder of Charlotte and Kate, his two daughters at home in New York.


Elaine Starling

With over 23 years of international advertising experience, Elaine started Starling Media Services, Inc. to support clients who need strategically integrated media and marketing plans. She brings a strong customer focus to her work and delights in engaging stakeholders to create innovative solutions that address specific challenges. Her clients range from high tech to consumer goods, video games, and business-to-business firms.

Elaine brings over 20 years of international agency and advertising experience to her clients in managing television, radio, magazines, newspapers, outdoor and web advertising as well as developing integrated media marketing plans. She has directed the strategic development of corporate media activity, handled product placement opportunities, managed Internet exposure, and worked with media, creative, and product placement agencies to develop and implement innovative and efficient advertising plans.

Elaine has an impressive list of accomplishments even before starting Starling Media Services. She worked with Sega to create their first infomercial for the Genesis 32X Launch, "Absolutely Rose Street", exceeding goals for generating awareness, viewer response, and positive press for the platform prior to the product launch. Elaine served on the Pico direct response team, evaluating traditional and direct response media to create the optimal media mix for the product. Her aggressive approach to testing and refining the media mix helped to improve cost-per-calls by 53% over goal.
Elaine's expertise was honed during her years as Associate Director of Media at J. Walter Thompson, working on the Corporate, Consumer, and International Sprint businesses. She also has entertainment experience from working with Orion Pictures and Mattel Toys at Foote, Cone & Belding.
