Millionaire Moms Club Plans to Help One Million Moms Become Millionaires
Powerful economic force bands towards financial independence.
Henderson, NV (July 15, 2008) - Statistics about moms and their purchasing power indicate that moms have a big influence on the economy. They account for $2 Trillion in annual purchases; they influence 80% of household purchasing decisions; 64% of women in corporate leadership roles have children, and there's more. But what about the dark side of those statistics?
Almost 4 million women have more than one job, women on average make 76 cents for every dollar paid to men, that women are less likely to receive other forms of compensation other than salary such as stock options, profit sharing and performance bonuses, that women have to save 2% more than men for retirement, and that if women received the same salary as men who work the same number of hours, have the same education or union status, are the same age, and live in the same region of the country poverty rates would be cut in half.
The Millionaire Moms Club sets to change those negative numbers by helping one million moms reach one million dollars in personal net worth.
The club intends to help one million moms by 2015 have an active plan they are using to obtain one million dollars in personal net worth. The program, developed by Gina Robison-Billups, founder of Moms In Business Network and The International Association of Working Mothers, is in response to the growing economic downturn that leaves moms with little or no financial empowerment. It addresses the discrepancy that women and particularly mothers experience. Despite the fact moms are one of the greatest economic influencers they are also an economic under-class. "In a nut shell," says Robison-Billups, "many of the businesses that heavily advertise to moms want her money, but they don't want to pay her what she's worth. And in many instances, don't even pay her a living wage."
Robison-Billups sees the Millionaire Moms Club program as more than a program of financial net worth. The group is set up to empower women financially through education, resources and support. In addition, Robison-Billups envisions a trickle down effect to the next generation of women and young men. "When moms are able to give their families a decent, healthy life then kids have enough food to think in school, the house feels less stressed, kids can think and learn, and that helps the next generation of our country become more competitive in the workplace and reduces crime and anger. Helping moms financially doesn't just help out mom. It empowers future generations of young men and women."
The Millionaire Moms Club offers innovative programming to bring educational teleconferences, personal financial coaching from a "dream team" of experts, online resources as well as the support of other women in the group all having the same goal -- to have a million dollars in personal net worth. Many women in the group say that the net worth is not their main goal though. Financial independence and living debt free is their first and most immediate goal. Cindy, a member from California who works as an independent distributor for a multi-level marketing company, says she's in the program because she likes the idea of learning how to pay off all her debts including her mortgage and finding an affordable way to put her kids through college. "Then," she says, "I'll think about being a millionaire. Hopefully sooner than later", she laughs.
Robison-Billups considered the plight of many families and their piles of seemingly unsurmountable debt when she developed this program's Pay It Forward component. The Pay It Forward program helps members earn money by helping other moms find out more about the club. Along with a team of national experts to help guide moms in paying off debt first and then investing for the future, the Pay It Forward portion actually helps the members earn money to accelerate debt pay off.
The program's dream team includes a line up of experts including Stephanie Nelson, Money Saving Coupon Mom from ABCNews.com, Dept. of Labor Women's Bureau, Scott Letourneau, corporate planning strategist, and more. They are currently building their dream team of nationally known experts to provide college, estate and retirement planning experts as well.
