I keep hearing about "work/life balance". What exactly is that, and how can I get some?

In the corporate world "work/life balance" is all the buzz because businesses are recognizing that your business can't have top productivity unless your team is healthy, happy and passionate about their work.
Many executive women have said they don't have balance, and honestly don't know what that is supposed to look like, so you're not alone.
The reason why work/life balance is so hard to find is because it can be different for everyone. Most people think it's a 50/50 balance of work and personal life, but most people never meet that standard and therefore feel frustrated and incomplete. Nothing in life is a perfect 50/50 split, so give up on that idea and start with a fresh perspective.
If you're working 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week and it's been a couple years since your last vacation, then you're out of balance. You need to have a heart-to-heart with you boss (especially if that boss is you).
Here are some tips for getting some work/life balance:
1- Talk to your employer about flexible work schedules and telecommuting.
2- Set boundaries like never being away from home for more than two nights, or no phone calls during dinner.
3- Hire a housekeeper (even just once a month)
4- Go away to nature- even for a day.
5- Learn that it is okay not to answer your phone or email for an entire day!
6- Plan your time by working on a project for 12 hours and then taking half a day off later in the week (but really do it).
7- Make plans with girlfriends.
8- Turn off the TV or computer and talk to your kids.
9- Compartmentalize your time- especially at the office.
10- Get a "Do Not Disturb" Sign for your office/cubicle. It is estimated that most people only have about 90 minutes of productive time because of interuptions. This boundary will save you that wasted time and make you more productive.
