I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those "dividers" that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed.

After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the "divider", looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding the bar code she said to me, "Do you know how much this is?"

I said to her "I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today." She said "OK," and I paid her for the things and left. She had no clue to what had just happened.

How will Immigration Reform Affect Your Family or Your Business?

We want to hear from you.
Could you possibly lose your spouse?
Will your own children be sent to your homeland while you are allowed to stay here?
    Will you lose your workforce?
Did you go through the system and are now angry with new immigration proposals?
Could your American-born children lose their parents?

Let us know how this issue personally affects you and your family and/or business. You can also tell us how you would reform immigration. Email us with your story at mibnnews@mibn.org. All submissions will be kept anonymous. We will take these stories and post them on our site, and send them to political representatives in Washington, so they know how their votes are really affecting America.

Business Etiquette Tip: Handshakes are the only consistent physical contact we have in the business world. They also happen first in an encounter, so they set the tone for the entire relationship that follows. People make an immediate judgment about your character and level of confidence through your handshake. Take time to practice your handshake skills and at all costs, avoid the "wet noodle", "bone-crusher", "fingers-only", and two-handed shakes. They convey nothing but negative messages to others.
