New moms at higher risk for deadly blood clots Doctors urge women to get out of bed, start walking as soon as possible.

From MSNBC: Updated: 5:37 p.m. ET Nov. 14, 2005 PHILADELPHIA - New moms should get up and start walking as soon as possible to prevent the risk of a potentially fatal blood clot, doctors advise. Although the chances of such clots are rare, they are four times greater for pregnant women and new mothers, a large 30-year study found, confirming what doctors have long observed. Mayo Clinic researchers looked at medical records from 1966 to 1995 of 50,000 pregnant women who lived in Olmstead County, Minn., where data has long been gathered for a long-term health surveillance project. Organization - To make traveling easier, keep your suitcase stocked with your travel hair dryer, travel-sized toiletries, hair clips, a few pieces of inexpensive costume jewelry, an extra hairbrush and comb, a travel toothbrush, shaving cream, a folding umbrella and other non-perishable essentials. When you're ready to go on a trip, the only thing you'll have to add is your clothes.

Etiquette - Can I e-mail my thank you note instead of mailing it? Maybe. E-mail is a great form of communication but isn't always appropriate for all occasions. It is acceptable for work associates. Outside of work a handwritten note is best. In the office you can decide. Etiquette Tip provided by Toni Grant of The Etiquette Schoold of Nevada.

Got A Tip or Comment To Share? Send them in! We feature 1-3 tips and comments a week on everything from etiquette, organization, finances, time management, as well as comments about how we are doing, and more.
