Our newsletter gives you weekly tips you can use to build your career and business while trying to maintain some balance. Each week we give you a marketing tip, a business tip, a sales tip, and a work/life balance tip. Here are this weeks tips:
Business Tip
Don't take money away from your marketing budget during tough times-- marketing is the only chance you've got to keep afloat and growing.
Instead, Conserve Capital by doing the following:
- Determine your primary business of units sold, customers sold, average order, hours billed, etc. Know what drives your business.
- Don't buy services before you need them.
- Lease instead of buy when it makes sense.
- Look for office equipment that can do double duty, for example a fax machine that can also make copies.
Marketing Tip
One of "selling points" for the Internet is immediacy. People want to be able to order and get your product or information quickly. That means you may want to think about a secure way of accepting credit cards, or perhaps offering a toll-free telephone number.
Also, if you have a service-based business vs. product based, you can still sell online. Take your service and translate it into helpful articles or booklets you can sell online for those that can't afford full services, but can contribute to a new revenue stream.
Sales Tip
Are you reaching your sales potential? A repeat customer is your most valuable customer. Every new customer gives you an opportunity to create another repeat customer. Figure out how you can reach your sales potential by offering more to your customers without spending more.
- Offer something extra with your product or service such as a little extra time, a relevant book or a coupon,
- Create special offers for regular customers,
Send out news releases to stay visible in your market
- Remember your customers at holiday time,
- Offer your customers several payment options such as term payments, layaway plans or store credit.
Work/Life Balance Tip
Before a doctor's appoint for yourself or family member, call the office up and ask them how late they are running. You may need to reschedule if it's too long of a wait.
Once you are in the office, ask about the wait time again. If it's an hour or longer, give the receptionist your cell # and tell her you will run a quick errand (to mail, drugstore) something that will only take you fifteen minutes or less.
Your time is just as precious as theirs, so don't let anybody waste it.
And Finally...
This week's member giveaway, is a goodie bag full of unique thoughtful gifts to make your life simpler, easier, and more pampered.
And that's it for February 13th, 2008. Look for us next Wednesday when we visit your inbox, and thank you for inviting us into your life.
Have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous Week!
Sincerely,
